Hi everyone,

I'm using Odoo 16 Email Marketing, and while sending out campaigns works fine, the statistics seem broken. Under the "Mailings" dashboard, I can only see the "Received" count getting updated.

However, the "Open", "Clicked", "Replied", and "Bounced" metrics stay no matter what.

Here’s what I’ checked:

  • Email server is properly configured and sending emails.
  • Recipients are receiving the emails (confirmed manually).
  • Campaigns are linked with mailing lists and sent successfully. 

am i missing anything?

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Sai,

This issue typically happens when email tracking features are not fully functional or supported by the recipient's mail client. Here are a few things to check:

1. Enable Tracking Options

In Odoo Email Marketing, make sure that the following are enabled when creating the mailing:

  • Open Tracking (uses a tracking pixel)
  • Click Tracking (wraps links with tracking URLs)

You can find these under the “Settings” tab when composing the mailing.

2. Ensure Tracking Pixel Loads

  • Open tracking depends on a small, invisible image embedded in the email.
  • Some email clients (like Outlook or Gmail) block images by default unless the user explicitly enables them. This means opens won’t be tracked unless the recipient allows image display.

3. Check Email Sent Format

  • If the email is sent as Plain Text, open tracking won’t work. Ensure your emails are in HTML format, which is required for embedding the tracking pixel.

4. Click Tracking Requires Proper Links

  • Ensure links in your emails are inserted through the email editor and not pasted in as plain text.
  • The links should go through Odoo’s tracking system (you'll see the domain rewritten slightly for tracking).

5. Bounce Tracking

  • Bounces require that your outgoing mail server is linked to a catch-all bounce alias.
  • Go to Settings > Technical > Email > Bounce Aliases, and ensure your server can process bounce emails (you may need to set up a reply-to address pointing to an incoming email alias).

If you’ve confirmed the above and the issue persists, you may want to:

  • Test with different email providers (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.)
  • Review logs from your mail server for bounce details
  • Ensure that UTM and campaign tracking is enabled in Odoo
