In 1994, Joel already had years of sales experience in the commercial flooring industry. He thought he’d seen it all until he stepped foot in the kitchen of a major chain restaurant. The floors were chipped, cracked, and to this day he still remembers the smell!He was inspired to find a solution. After only a few months he became very aware that the current flooring options were already failing, given the many challenges of maintaining a commercial kitchen floor.
After exhausting the current market, Joel decided to take the best pieces of the flooring industry and create the ultimate flooring solution.
In 2008, with a little research and a whole bunch of chemistry, Joel and Co-Founder Rich Neale cracked the code and Eco-Grip flooring was born.

Bakon Equipment BV is a leading international company that was founded in 1986 in The Netherlands.In 1991, the US company, Bakon USA Food Equipment, was created to better serve the needs of the North-American customers. Since then, the company has been located in Southern California.
The company focuses on specific technologies and their applications in the food industry, especially the bakery, pastry and chocolate world.
In the mid 2000s, Bakon USA started producing locally.
In 2008, the company moved to the City of Torrance in the Los Angeles area (about 15 minutes south of LAX Los Angeles international airport).
At that time, they added a fully equipped showroom and made it available to professionals for a closer look at their equipment. The showroom has also provided the possibility of testing products, training, and participation in their regular classes. It has become a meeting place for food professionals.
