We're having an issue with setting up a bulk quantity pricing structure for an entire product category. Here's the situation:
We sell wholesale shampoo with the following pricing tiers:
- 1-9 gallons: $5.00/gal
- 10-19 gallons: $4.00/gal
- 20-49 gallons: $3.00/gal
- 50-99 gallons: $2.00/gal
- 100+ gallons: $1.00/gal
There are 200 different shampoo recipes customers can choose from. Whether a customer orders 75 gallons of 1 recipe, or 1 gallon each of 75 different recipes, the price should be $2.00/gal. The cumulative quantity across the entire shampoo category should determine the price.
Attempts to Resolve:
Pricelist Feature:
This won't work for us as it applies only to individual products and doesn't sum up the quantities across the entire shampoo category. If there are multiple shampoos in the cart the discount is wrong.
Discounts Feature:
Using this feature makes the ecommerce shopping cart look messy and unprofessional. For instance, if a customer qualifies for the 100+ gallon rate, their cart displays five separate discount lines. This happens because there's no way to set a maximum quantity for the discount. So, for each price tier, we have to set up a new discount rule which shows as a line in the ecommerce shopping cart. Considering we sell products beyond just shampoo, a customer buying in bulk across categories might see 20-25 discount lines in their cart, which isn't a great user experience and can confuse the customer.
Any advice or suggestions to streamline this process would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
