Hello Everyone

I am currently using Odoo Cummunity version 12 (I don't know why they gave me version 12, but I guess I am kind of stuck with it) on a Turnkey Linux VPS server, and I would like to upgrade to enterprise. I assume I would first have to upgrade to Enterprise version 12, to then go step by step until the current version.

I have found some documentation on how to do this, e.g. on the website of cybrosys (I would post a link, but I lost my entire message when trying to post last time because of the presence of a link, would have been nice if the system allowed me the edit the message but that is irrelevant here). Either way I got the distinct impression that some steps were missing as the asked me to link to the folder "enterprise" in the odoo.conf file, but I don't have a folder with that name. For this reason I assume that I'd have to install the enterprise version first. I have read that it should be installed over the community version but I have no idea how to do that.

I have downloaded odoo.conf to add the line in question but I am hesitant to upload it again as the folder I am linking to doesn't exist.

Any guidance would be most welcome

Thank you for your replies,

I currently use Odoo Community 12, which is why I guess I should upgrade to Enterprise 12 first (currently buying a licence for it)

indeed the link of Cybrosys is the one I was referring to in my post, though I got the feeling the first steps were missing, as it says to point to a folder that I don't have currently available. I have managed to get my hands on a .tar file for Odoo 12 and it seems to contain exactly this folder that I would have to refer to

odoo.conf currently refers to the addons like this: addons_path = /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/odoo/addons . The opt directory is completely empty, my guess is that I ought to upload the enterprise folder that is in the .tar file into the /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/odoo/ directory, and modify the addons path in the odoo.conf as described in the link of cybrosys and by Niyas.

I'd better make sure to back everything up, and hope it works, if it doesn't professional help might indeed be necessary

Upgrading from Odoo Community to the Enterprise version can be a complex process, and it's important to follow the correct steps to ensure a smooth upgrade.

Firstly, you will need to purchase an Enterprise license from Odoo and obtain the necessary files for your desired version.

Once you have obtained the Enterprise files, you can proceed with the upgrade process. The general steps involved are as follows:

  1. Backup your current Odoo database and file system.
  2. Install the Enterprise version over your existing Community version.
  3. Update the configuration file (odoo.conf) to point to the Enterprise version.
  4. Restart Odoo.
  5. Install any Enterprise-specific modules or addons that you require.
  6. Migrate your data from the old database to the new one.

Also, note that upgrading to a new version of Odoo can also involve changes to the database schema, which may require additional steps or modifications to your custom modules.

If you are not comfortable with performing the upgrade yourself, I recommend hiring a professional Odoo consultant or developer to assist you. I am using the services of Silent Infotech and have been very satisfied with it. You can connect with them and figure out further.

Hi,

First of all you should have access to enterprise source code or it should be in your hand with a valid subscription. If yes,

you can install the Odoo Community Edition, a lot of tutorial on this is available over the cloud. The very easy method is to use, the Odoo Installation Scrypt.

Once the installation is done, just you need to copy the enterprise addons/source code in your hand to this odoo instance. Place it inside the /opt directory or in any other sub directories of this. Copy the full path to this folder and open your odoo configuration file from the etc folder, mostly it will be named as odoo.conf or odoo-server.conf.

Modify the addons path by adding this enterprise path by putting a ,  save the file and restart the odoo service.

Now create or open the db and click Update Apps list and install web_enterprise module.
