Blank BoM not sending MO to draft

Question

I created a blank BoM so that the SO will create a draft MO. However, even with a blank BoM my MO's are going straight past draft to ready state.

Hello,

I m on version 18.4 and I have the same issue. It’s a bug identified by Odoo. A solution could be : Change the  route MTO, change the rule’s replenishment method :  WH to customers from : take from stock, trigger another rules to take from stock only.

As per my understanding you want to create Draft MO, whenever you confirm the SO, so later on you can select different BOM. I am not sure on the use case, but I tested this flow with Routes (MTO and Manufacturing) and working fine for me.
Steps I followed,
1: Created new product, in BOM kept blank, in Product routes under inventory selected (MTO and Manufacturing)
2: Now when I confirm SO, it will create Draft MO, in which you can select BOM

Is there any solution to his topic? We have the same problem. We need to have some manufacturing orders in the status of draft to decide which BOM to use. In Odoo 17 this worked fine, why is this changed and is there a way to get back to the old behaviour?
