Hello Odooers,

Greetings!

Whenever I create a task, project, or perform certain actions within Odoo, it often prompts me to provide an email address for notifications. For example, I've set an email like tasks@****.***.com for a task.

I'm curious—what exactly is this email used for? And where can I find the inbox or location where notifications sent to this email are received or stored within Odoo?

Thanks in advance!

Could you please explain me in detail this section:

These Mail are stored in the Technical View (for debugging or inspecting mail routes)

  • Go to Settings > Technical > Email
  • You can inspect every email that enters or leaves Odoo here—raw content, subject, related model, and record.

I don't find any option as technical under settings.

Hi,

When you assign an email like tasks@yourdomain.com to a task, project, or alias field in Odoo, Odoo uses it as a mail alias to:

  • Receive incoming emails: External users (or internal team members) can send an email to tasks@yourdomain.com, and Odoo will convert that email into a new task (or update an existing one).
  • Send outgoing notifications: Odoo can also send email notifications from this alias address if it's configured in your outgoing mail server.

These Mail are stored in the Technical View (for debugging or inspecting mail routes)

  • Go to Settings > Technical > Email
  • You can inspect every email that enters or leaves Odoo here—raw content, subject, related model, and record.

Hope it helps
