In v8 when I go into Warehouse module on the left side bar I can click options for Products but also Products by Category. The latter groups together all products by category and I can see are list of subcategories inside each of the main categories.
In v11 the Inventory module doesnt have that option in the left side bar. It only has the Products option but not the Products by Category option. How can I get it back?

Yes, By default there is no menu in Odoo11 to check products by categories. But there is multiple ways to check products by categories in Inventory/Warehouse module.
(1) There is menu(Products) inside Inventory menu, where you need to follow below steps,
Go to the path, Inventory ->Mater Data -> Products
Then inside Group By section select "Internal Category" to check Products group by categories.
(2) You can group products by categories by warehouse locations. For this you need to follow below steps,
Got to the path, Inventory -> Configuration -> Warehouse Management -> Locations
Then inside every location there is a button "Products" which helps to show products which belongs to that location. https://prnt.sc/qwbgjc
Then there you can add group by "Internal Category" to check products by categories.
(3) Also inventory extension have one more options(menu) which shows the list of categories. For this you need to follow below steps,
Go to the path, Inventory -> Configuration-> Warehouse Management -> Products -> Product Categories
Then inside every categories there is button(Products) which will only show the products belongs to that category.

This doesn't group them as before (v8). In v8 you could view all master categories and then click on each master category to view subcategories and then be taken to a list of all products inside that subcategory. But more importantly, it doesnt add up the values for each item in each subcategory. For example, I have a Main Category called Steel and inside are a few subcategories, one of which is Steel / Plates. I can see quantity on hand and inventory value for each item, but i cant see them added for that subcategory like Total Steel / Plates Qty On Hand or Total Steel / Plates Inventory Value.
Yes you are right. It is not exactly same as before. But the third way is almost similar as before,

I dont have that option of Product Categories you mention. I have updated my op with an image of my menu. Please suggest something
The only options I get under Inventory -> Configuration -> Warehouse Management are: Warehouse, Locations, Routes & Operation Types. I do not have a Products -> Product Categories
My bad I have shared you the wrong path,
In Odoo 11 when you install the "Stock" then you wil see below menu,
"Inventory -> Configuration -> Products -> Product Categories"

Which module do you mean by Stock?
I DO have it installed. Thats why I have the path Inventory Management. What I dont have is the Product Categories path. There is obviously something else missing.

Hi,
Click on the Group By option in search box and click add custom group, select Internal Category from it and click apply. Now you will get all the products grouped by its category. And if you need to save this to get always, click Favourites and click Save Current Search.
