I made a typo when installing odoo, as a result whenever password reset is done it tries to send emails from:

support@xompany.com

rather than

support@company.com


Its unable to send as the email server rightly rejects the from address.  How can I change it?  I have tried setting the system properties: mail.force.smtp.from and mail.default.from but this has had no effect.

Hello, My email finds you in excellent health I hope?

As @Cybrosys mentioned, you must first make sure you have correctly configured your outgoing mail server.

Then for sending mail such as password reset, the email address used by default as sender is the one configured on the company. 

If no email address is configured on the company in the email field, then Odoo will use the email address of the user logged in and executing the action such as an administrator.

Hi Scott,

The password reset instructions are sent from your outgoing mail server that you have set up and not the email configured initially while creating account.

You can setup a new outgoing mail server and test the connection to correctly send the password reset instructions to the required users.
