Odoo is applying a 6-hour safety margin (padding time) between product rentals. However, in the general settings, it's set to zero hours. I changed this time to 2 hours, but Odoo insists on applying the 6-hour buffer. What could this be?
Note: Its Odoo 18 Online.

It includes hundreds of business apps:
- CRM
- e-Commerce
- Akuntansi
- Inventaris
- PoS

The Default Padding Time in Rental -> Configuration -> Settings --> Rental specifies the default value for newly created products only.
Once a Product has been created, the Security Time (to be found i.e. via Rental -> Products -> *choose any rental product* --> Tab: Rental Prices -> Reservations) will not update automatically anymore. You will have to adjust this value for existing Products manually.
Hi,
Try the following steps,
- Open the rental product form (Sales → Products → Rental tab).
- Check the field “Padding Time” (or “Safety Margin”).
- If it shows 6, update it to 0 or 2 as needed.
- Save.
After that, new rental reservations will respect the product-level value.
The 6-hour buffer you’re seeing isn’t coming from General Settings anymore, but from the per-product rental configuration. The global setting only applies when creating new rental products, it doesn’t retroactively update existing ones.
Hope it helps

Does the padding time works at all? I have set-up padding time in product level. But Odoo is allowing me to create hundreds of orders with the same product at the same time.
No, it continues applying 6 hour. I setup 2 hours (for tests), but insist apply 6 hours.
