How can you set up Odoo to handle work in progress costs? My company manufactures goods and typically in manufacturing when a product which is consumed in the process of making the end product it is pulled out of inventory the cost is placed into a temporary WIP account until the end product is fully manufactured, at that point the cost would move out of the WIP account and be a part of the final cost of the end product. for example:

Product A (consumed product) is used to make Product B (end Product)

Step 1

A work order goes through to make Product B and as a result Product A's inventory gets debited and the WIP account gets credited. (the product is moved out of inventory and placed in the temporary account).

Step 2

The Manufacturing order has been fulfilled. The cost in the WIP account is debited and that valuation amount becomes a part of Product B's cost and credits inventory (as Product B is now an inventory item until shipped)
