I am just starting to use Odoo for the first time, and I’m interested in implementing it to manage a self-storage business. Currently, I am using Odoo Enterprise in the cloud, although we are considering installing it on our own server for greater flexibility with modules and customizations.

Since I am new to Odoo and have limited technical experience, I would greatly appreciate any help and guidance from anyone who is using (or has used) Odoo for a similar business. I’d love to learn about your experiences, configurations, and customizations, as well as which modules you consider essential for this type of business.

Here are a few specific questions I have:

1. Which modules do you recommend? Are there standard modules in Odoo that are useful for a self-storage business, or are there any custom modules that you’ve developed or found useful?

2. Module customization: Has anyone made specific customizations for a self-storage business? I’d like to adapt Odoo to manage inventory, reservations, recurring client payments, contracts, and other aspects.

3. Workflow and automation: How have you structured your workflow in Odoo to manage the full customer cycle, from space reservation to payment and automatic renewal? What configurations do you recommend to automate and simplify these processes?

4. Payment gateways and billing: Have you found an effective way to integrate specific payment gateways for the self-storage sector? Any advice on optimizing recurring billing and payment reminders?

5. Security and access: For physical storage, has anyone implemented features or integrations to manage secure access or client notifications?

Background:

We are currently subscribed to Odoo Enterprise in the cloud but are still in the experimental phase. For now, my partner is trying to install Odoo on a Hostinger.com server to see if we can have more control. However, any guidance on configurations, which modules to install, or how to customize would be invaluable.

I am sure there is great potential in Odoo for this type of business, but it would be extremely helpful to know how others have leveraged the platform in the self-storage industry. I thank you in advance for any suggestions, experiences, or resources you can share.
