I read whatsapp can be integrated with Odoo and would like to use it for my salespeople.

In order to use whatsapp in our Odoo database, we have to follow some required steps:


  1. Have a business facebook account.
  2. Go to meta for developers and ‘log in’ or ‘create an account’.
  3. Go to ‘my apps’ to start creating your application. (video)

  1. Download the whatsapp application in Our Odoo database

Odoo > applications > whatsapp > install

  1. Go to whatsapp application in Odoo > configuration > whatsapp accounts > new



Things to keep in mind:

  • The Odoo/whatsapp integration is not a substitute for the current whatsapp use in mobile devices, it rather is a complement. 
  • A phone number is required for this and can’t be used in any other device (no phones or web whatsapp)
  • Odoo users can only start a new conversation by sending a template but external users or clients can start a conversation with Odoo users.
  • Meta requires a paying card upon app creation to charge depending on the number of messages and/or location. 
  • The conversations in Odoo will be eliminated after 15 days.

Salespeople can utilize WhatsApp templates to efficiently send order confirmation or cancellation messages to customers.


To set up WhatsApp account follow the link

After creating an account. To create a WhatsApp template

1.  Go to the WhatsApp app ‣ Templates dashboard and click New. On the form, enter a Name for the template, and select a Language.


In the Account drop-down menu, select the WhatsApp business account in Odoo that this template should link to. Next, under the Applies to field select the model the server action will apply to for this template.

Design a template based on your requirements and approve the template


2. Go to sale-> Sale order-> WhatsApp (chatter)-> send.

Now user can send the approved template to the customer.
