Is there a way to plan my backorders in advance? Many times I already know there will be a backorder and I would like to plan their different scheduled dates separately in advance.

Yes, this feature has been added in Odoo 17.2
1. Go to your Delivery Order.
2. In the Quantity field put in the quantity that you would be able to fulfill at the moment.
3. Click on the gear icon and then click on Split.
4. Odoo will then create another order with the backordered quantity.
5. Your Sales Order will end up having two Delivery Orders.
