In v16, now that you can't add groups to inherited views, I'm at a loss how to prevent users (or groups) from creating/editing/deleting products.
I've tried removing create/edit/delete permissions from everything that could be Product related and still, they're able to create/edit/delete Products.
What more do I have to do?
Odoo is the world's easiest all-in-one management software.
It includes hundreds of business apps:
- CRM
- e-Commerce
- Comptabilitat
- Inventari
- PoS
- Project
- MRP

Hi Russ,
In standard Odoo, the only groups who can create / edit / delete products are the Administrators in several apps and the Accountant:
Other users will get an error if they try to create / edit / delete products:
So either the users have Administrator access in another app, or there are some extra groups or access rules - your screenshot shows some extra groups and access rules, but not all of them.
I am trying to disable and remove everything I can think of and nothing seems to prevent this user from being able to create/edit/delete products. I had done this previously by attaching groups to inherited views that edited those attributes, but v16 no longer allows that.
I don't understand why this would happen. If a user doesn't have access to create products, they won't be able to create products.
The workaround for using access groups in XML is to create a computed field, as described here: https://odootricks.tips/odoo-studio-field-attributes-based-on-user-access-groups/
Hello Russ,
Kindly change in Inventory Group-related user access permission and it will be working fine.
Thanks
Changed them all to Read only and the user can still edit.
