  2. Product category: Average costing + Automated valuation
  3. Product track by Lot and valuation with Lot/serial number
  4. Odoo 18
Purpose:

This document serves to outline the testing procedure for real costing utilizing lot or serial numbers, while implementing average costing within the product category.

Result:

Success

Odoo prioritizes the ‘real costing’. When the user chooses the certain lot number product to sell and deliver, Odoo recognizes the lot number cost instead of using the ‘average’ cost.

Workflow:
  1. Validate a purchase order and receipt for product qty 1, lot1 at $150
  2. Validate second purchase order and receipt for product qty 1, lot2 at $200
  3. Validate third purchase order and receipt for product qty 1, lot3 at $340
  4. Validate a sales order and delivery for product qty 1, lot 2. Create and validate the invoice. We will see the cost/expense as $200. This means Odoo prioritizes the ‘real costing’.
  5. If Odoo use the average costing ,the cost would be $230 = (150+200+340)/3
