I am referring to the Purchase Price, not Cost, they are different.

Why do all Variants share the same Purchase Price? With some of the products we re-sell that have variants, the variant sometimes has a different purchase price from the manufacture and we need to be able to set that correctly. Why do they all have to be the same?

Using cost is not a viable workaround:

  • The Cost is a historical average of the purchase price.
  • In Odoo, the Purchase price is goes on POs, RFQs, etc.

I do not understand why Odoo is like this.

How can I have a different purchase price for each variant?

They most certainly do share the same purchase price.

List out the Variants (Sales--> Products--> Product Variants)

Choose a variant product and go to the Purchase Tab. Change the Purchase Price, save it and them check one of the other variants of that product, it will have the same purchase price.

I can't add images here to show but please feel free to email me and I can show you.

Thank you

You need to unhide the same field on the Purchase Tab of the Product Variant.

If you don't unhide it in both places, the price you are editing is actually the purchase price of the Product Template, which applies to all Variants unless you set a specific price for a specific Variant.

@Ray,

I understand now. It works perfectly, thank you for your help.

They do not all share the same Purchase Price unless you configure Odoo that way:

Perhaps you just didn't see that you can unhide the Product Variant field on the Purchase Tab of each Product Template:
