Odoo supports subtasks, but it does not support sub-projects by default. To achieve this functionality, customization is required.

​Odoo's Project module does not natively support hierarchical nesting of projects (i.e., sub-projects within main projects). However, you can achieve a structured breakdown of work using tasks and sub-tasks within a project. This approach allows for detailed organization and management of complex projects without the need for nested project structures.​

Implementing Tasks and Sub-Tasks:

1. Enable Sub-Tasks Feature:
   • Navigate to the Projects module.​
   • Go to Configuration > Settings.
   • Under the Task Management section, enable the Sub-tasks option.​
   • Click Save to apply the changes.​
2. Create a Main Project:
   • From the Projects dashboard, click Create.​
   • Enter the project name (e.g., "R&D Project") and configure other settings as needed.​
   • Click Create Project to finalize.​
3. Add Tasks Representing Sub-Projects:
   • Within your main project, create tasks corresponding to each sub-project (e.g., "Engineering," "Production," "Operations," etc.).​
   • Assign these tasks to the respective departments or team leads.​
4. Break Down Tasks into Sub-Tasks:
   • Open a task that represents a sub-project.​
   • Navigate to the Sub-tasks tab and click Add a line to create sub-tasks.​
   • Define sub-tasks to represent specific activities or deliverables within the sub-project.​
   • Assign each sub-task to appropriate team members and set deadlines as required.​
