Ok this question is probably pretty basic but I would just like to confirm:

In terms of the license of Odoo, can I download it and install it on my own server for a client. So I will be downloading and running it on my own server then billing the client for the use of the software. Is this allowed in terms of the Odoo licensing?

The cost per user supplied on the Odoo.com website is if you make use of the Odoo S.A hosted solution correct?

Yes, you can download Odoo from https://www.odoo.com/page/download and

Odoo itself is under the AGPLv3 (https://github.com/odoo/odoo/blob/8.0/LICENSE)

(see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affero_General_Public_License for details)

If you want to contribute to Odoo, you have to sign a the CLA: https://github.com/odoo/odoo/blob/8.0/doc/cla/sign-cla.md

As far as I understand it, you can download, install and use Odoo for free. So you charge a customer for hosting the Odoo and/or supporting it.

The prices on the odoo.com Website are defininitly the prices for using Odoo on this hosted platform.
