This question has been flagged

While using odoo 16 CE I went to the documentation to read about workcenters for this version (here:https://www.odoo.com/documentation/16.0/applications/inventory_and_mrp/manufacturing/management/using_work_centers.html) and it is clearly stated there that the work center form has a place to define equipment. This makes me think that Work Centers are like assembly lines that can have several machines allocated to it.

The picture I see there is this:

Now in my installation (I have several made on different platforms and they all exhibit this window for the workcenter form:

Here I don't have the Equipment nor the IoT Triggers tabs. I do have this Specific Capabilities which I think is for the specification of how many units of a certain product defined in inventory I can do in this WC and what setup and cleanup times I need for those.

So my two questions are:

  1. Technically did odoo 16 loose these equipment and IoT tabs or I need to do something to get it to work (I do have the maintenance app installed but that had no effect with this issue and, I do think that products one has in inventory and that are turned into fixed assets so that one can financially deprecate it should be made available as equipment to use in production lines and associated to the maintenance app)?
  2. This question is more conceptual. In odoo 16 workcenters stand for machines I use to transform raw materials or that assemble products in BOMs or do they stand for production lines or workplaces that churn out a certain number of pieces of products?

Thank for any comment.

I have just confirmed that the Maintenance App is not adequately integrated with the Production App. It doesn't really make any sense not having Equipment allocated to Work Centers in any scenartio that I can imagine. I will therefore develop something along these lines as I have this requirement to fulfill.

Thank you all for your input.

Hi Peter,

We may be needing to resolve a similar situation.

Can you please contact info@2xa.ca to discuss?

Thanks!

When installing the Maintenance app, the tab Equipment should appear in the work center.  I did for me and I can register a machine connected to the work center. (IOT I do not know about).  The same functionality as previous version, as far as I can tell.

Fixed Assets got (unfortunally) no link neither to equipments nor to inventory. Fixed assets and depreciation are only managed in accounting.

A work center is where you register processing of manufacturing: What has been produced, what components has been consumed, how much time did it take.  Basically the same as in previous version, but with some new functions in the work order tablet view.

Thank you Lars for the insight. That means I must be consistently doing something wrong with the installation. Can you confirm me your version? Is it the original 16.0?

Thank you Lars.
This points me in the direction that the maintenance app is not integrated with the manufacturing app in the community version just like Jaideep hinted.

Can anyone confirm this, so that I can put a definitive answer into this thread?

Likely the functionality is limited to Enterprise edition and not extended to community.

As @ Lars Aam confirms the Equipment tab appears on work center configuration on installation of maintenance app

1. You can create a field in fixed asset to link equipment

Thanks Jaideep, I will look into that.
