Hello, I'm sure plenty of people do this already - and it probably obvious.

I am looking for a way to ask the user for their email address before I allow them to download a document.

I successfully have a CTA button pointing to a document I have published elsewhere. All good there but I want to ask them for and capture their email address before allowing the download.

Any suggestions.

Thanks very much!

I have a work around. I have created a form similar to the contact_us one where I asked for their details. The form is set to create as CRM lead and has a hidden field with a pre-set text. I then have an automated actions which triggers on the creation of the lead, where, if the text matched the hidden field on the form, I send them the pdf.

so are you passing the email in the pretext field and then matching or the pretext thing work as a token to send the email ? well if the thing works for you it doesn't matter but if you need to have the email so you can send them the mail directly then the mail is needed indeed and you can open a dialog box on the contact us form save btn or something where it will first check the customer data if we are saving it in the website cache or if the user is already created then in it and then if we don't find the email, then only the dialog should pop up saying you need to fill up the email so we can send you pdf or let you download where you can fill the email too. well, Idk your requirement but as I have read the earlier needs so I have suggested this.Respond on this if you're able to for further ways around this.

@Wombat thanks for sharing the work around. Any chance you can share a bit more details for a newbie?
