I have migrated to Odoo 16.0 and some of my translations have not been kept. I would like to edit those in bulk but the "Translated terms" have disappeard. When using the "Export translations" function and download the .PO file, it does not contain my product names.
How can I export and then reimport the product names in different languages?
Odoo is the world's easiest all-in-one management software.
It includes hundreds of business apps:
- CRM
- e-Commerce
- Accounting
- Inventory
- PoS
- Project
- MRP

Hi Benoit,
We struggled with exporting and importing translations for products quite a bit, so we wanted to share our solution as translations are a cumbersome process.
We developed an app that integrates DEEPL translations for all products and website pages. You may want to check https://www.spinomana.com/deepl-translator which will greatly reduce time and effort for doing translations with the default export/import. It is built for v16. You can even use it with glossary so you can finetune translations per vertical or business.
Kind regards,
Seppe
¡Great solution! It is working with char field type, but not working with HTML one. When I intend import XLS file into Odoo, for example User language = English (the second language of my DB), the terms are overwritten in all other languages. Has anyone had the same thing happen?
I'm having the same issue with HTML fields, so far Odoo claims it is not possible to import them, however I'm looking for options to translate.
Have you found any solution?
In Odoo16, any field that is translatable now stores JSON data representing all translations of all translated language values.
Here you are the steps:
1- Change the language of the user to the concerned language.
2- Export the products (External ID, Name) to Excel file.
3- Translate the names in the exported file.
4- Reimport the Excel file.
The check the video for how to translate the products names in Odoo 16?
This is working for a productname or sales description for example, but not for a field such as html sales description (product front-end text). This behaviour of Odoo is quite undesirable for e-commerce companies who need to maintain loads of data.
Yes, indeed Waleed. To summarize the answer:
- Change the language of the user to the concerned language
- Export the products with their names
- Modify the names in the exported file
- Reimport the file
