Hi, I’m having an issue with naked domain setup.

I’ve set up a CNAME record for www that points to Odoo and all seems to be working correctly.

I have also set up two A records for the naked domain pointing to the IP address of the DNS host and the naked domain seems to be pointing to the Odoo server but I’m getting an error page from Odoo saying “oops! We can't find [mydatabase odoo URL]”

I figure Odoo doesn’t support naked domains at all?

Is there something else I’m missing from the DNS side of things to get the naked domain running?

I’ve been liaising with the domain DNS host and they haven’t been much help at all.  They suggested I set up a cloaked re-direction which I did but that doesn’t allow for HTTPS connection.

Hi Matt, I have exactly the same problem. Have you been able to find a solution?

Thank you for sharing the cloudflare configurations.

Hello, with your configuration, the request reaches the Odoo server, but Odoo doesn't know which database to show (as you can't add the naked domain on Odoo Online or Odoo.sh).

You actually need to use a third-party service to redirect the naked domain to a subdomain configured with a CNAME, and secure the connection with an SSL certificate. Options include Cloudflare, Naked SLL, redirect.pizza ... Configuration for Cloudflare is explained in our documentation: https://www.odoo.com/documentation/18.0/applications/websites/website/configuration/domain_names.html#using-cloudflare-to-secure-and-redirect-a-naked-domain

I am facing the same issue and it sure is vexing. To clarify, I MUST use a third party service to redirect the naked domain? There is NO way to use the zone editor where my domain is registered (and where my mail is served up) to resolve this?

Well, I went through the process to use clod flare and I am still getting the error when going to my naked domain. This is an unfortunate mess that sure seems like it shouldn't have to happen. I'll see how this resolves, but it sure takes the shine off of Odoo for me.
