I am trying to get the Odoo Android app to connect with my Odoo Community edition which is hosted on a remote server but I can't to make a connection. Seems like the Odoo app is mainly for the Odoo hosted clients.
Odoo is the world's easiest all-in-one management software.
It includes hundreds of business apps:
- CRM
- e-Commerce
- Accounting
- Inventory
- PoS
- Project
- MRP

Community Edition is a term for Odoo 9.0. As per description in your link this app does not support Odoo 9.0.
I installed this app today and all seems to work fine, I connect to ODOO 9 community version, running on our own server.
I suppose the app must have been updated since the original question was asked.
I am trying to do the same and I had looked at this ebook
https://play.google.com/store/books/details?id=CXriCgAAQBAJ&rdid=book-CXriCgAAQBAJ&rdot=1&source=ge-web-app
and this framework that seems a bit complicated:

You could do it using XMLRPC calls to your Odoo instance, see how to do it for Java here:
https://www.odoo.com/documentation/8.0/api_integration.html
Thanks Axel will give that a try.
