I have quite a few products in various categories on my site and I want to sort the products so the ones customers are more likely to purchase are at the top.

The documentation (https://www.odoo.com/documentation/master/applications/websites/ecommerce/managing_products/catalog.html?highlight=featured#sort-by-search) says to go to Website > eCommerce > Products to sort them.

On that Products page, if I set it to the List view, then I can reorder the products with the handle:

However, if I group the products by Website Product Category, which I need to do to ensure proper sorting within each category, the handle goes away and I am no longer able to reorder them:

I'd love some suggestions on how I can sort the products within the categories.

Thanks!

If you have a lot of products and in the list view you group them by website category, it can be difficult to select all of them.

- Perhaps it would be more practical to select all the products

- in action->export, create an excel import compatible with the fields "Website product category" and "website sequence"

- in Excel you can then more easily sort the products by the "category column" and adapt the "website sequence" as desired (using for example 10000 for the first of one and 20000 for the second category and leaving room for future products)

-  and then import into Odoo

I had been looking for the Website Sequence field, but was searching for things like "order" and "sort".
This is super helpful!

This might be tricker than I first thought because I have many products that are in multiple categories:

Since there is no sequence ID per Category, it seems I'm going to have to do a global sorting of the products, ignoring the categories.

I also noticed that on the website the default sorting is by "Featured" product. But I haven't found any way in the documents to specify which products are "Featured". Perhaps this would be a better approach if someone can point me in the right direction.

He Chris,

Filter each website category - one by one with advanced filter using Website category -> 'Contains' ->
Then do the re-arrangement of each category. This helps if its not many different published category.
